I started playing this game again because I wanted to be able to play it with a good friend of mine who really enjoys pokemon, but he cannot connect. He has turned off his simple Windows Defender firewall, but yet when he tries to connect to this game it says that he is trying to connect for about 30 seconds and then gives him a 'Connection Failed.' It doesn't even give him a Ad. He can connect to other games perfectly fine, this is the only game he has had an issue with. He is incredibly new to BYOND so I'm pretty sure he's not banned or anything...can anyone help? We've done everything we can think of, reinstalling byond, restarting his router/computer, making sure he doesn't have any other firewalls up... nothing has worked. Please help us.

Is he using a Guest account? As in his name have Guest starting with? if so all Guest accounts can not connect for safety reasons

No, he is using a main account. I've tried having him use an account of mine that I have verified can connect, it did not work. We have also tried having him use his other computer, thinking maybe it was a windows 8 issue, but that is also not fixing it. I have done some research and thought it may somehow be a Firefox issue, that is not the case. The only thing I can figure out is maybe his router is not allowing the game's Port for some reason.

He says that if he clicks 'Play Now' several times it will actually bring up the Ad for him, but it still won't even attempt to connect to download resources and just gives him the black screen with connection failed. We're still trying to figure this out.

What version of Byond does he have?

The latest one off the site, we have tried both of them, the ones for Windows. The same problem either way.

Have you tried and earlier version of Byond, try 503, they should be archived

We tried version 503 and version 502, both give the same thing. I don't think it has anything to do with the byond version, I am using the current version and not having any issues. It has to be something with his internet, this is the only game we have had a problem with. I just really wish we could figure this out!  If it is a port problem though his mom is really... angry... about the internet, and internet security, so we won't be able to change anything on his end...

Me either! This is really frustrating, I wish he could play! We also are having this problem with another byond game. I really wish we could figure this out!

It's a problem with his settings then, nothing to do with PZ.

That's what I assumed, but still, nothing we have done or tried has helped. I guess I just won't be able to play with him...

try have your friend try log in on other computer, that is the best way to dismiss the PZ being fault and then you can concentrate fully on his settings

We did, we've tried everything. It has got to be something with his settings but he claims he has messed with his firewalls as much as he can, so... I guess he just can't play
